The Common Thread
This is one of the best activities concerning diversity ice breaking. You begin with two employees at the front of the room. The two employees must come with a list of five similarities that exist between the both of them.
The two people select two more people and will keep repeating this exercise until everyone has five similarities with five people. This is a great exercise to find common ground between employees they didn’t know before.
Just like the classic game show Jeopardy, this activity takes various diversity categories and allows the teams to use their collaborative thinking to learn about the culture of the people in your workplace.
This diversity activity lets employees speak about stereotypes that people think might apply to them and reveal them as false. This gives the other employees the chance to base their impression on the facts learned and remove any pre-conceived biases.

In this activity, the team shares their geographical origins. They also share other places that they have visited/lived in. Each person can give a brief about their place of origin and other visited locations. The activity helps to create geographical awareness and breeds a desire to establish communication.
